MDA wins ISS contract from Boeing

14 May 2008

MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates' Montreal operation has been awarded a $21 million contract by Boeing for an information solution for the International Space Station (ISS).

MDA will provide two spare sets of S-band communication subsystems designed to provide critical voice and data links between astronauts on-board the ISS and Earth. This contract award by Boeing is part of an overall strategy to keep the ISS in operation through the year 2016 and beyond.

This solution follows MDA's other mission critical solutions currently supporting the ISS, which includes most recently the Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulator (Dextre).

Dr. Marc Donato, vice president at MDA's Montreal's operation, stated, "This contract demonstrates MDA Montreal's expertise in providing critical advanced technology solutions to our customers, and our continuing commitment to Boeing and NASA in support of the International Space Station throughout its extended life."
