Breeze-Eastern crane hoist winch for US Army FCS recovery vehicle

14 May 2008

Breeze-Eastern has been awarded a $2.3M contract by BAE Systems Land & Armament, L.P. - Ground Systems for the system design and development of a Crane Hoist Winch for the Future Combat System (FCS), Field Recovery and Maintenance Vehicle (FRMV) for the US Army.

"This contract follows our recent $3.7M award to develop the FCS FRMV Main Recovery Winch, and we are excited as these programmes will leverage Breeze-Eastern's considerable experience and expertise to develop lightweight and innovative winches for the Field Recovery and Maintenance Vehicle," said Robert L.G. White, President and CEO of Breeze-Eastern Corporation.

The FRMV will be used to recover Manned and Unmanned Ground Vehicles. Because of its lighter weight and transportability, the FRMV can be rapidly deployed into areas previously inaccessible to heavier recovery vehicles and provides a force multiplier to the modular brigade.

FCS is a joint networked family of manned and unmanned ground and air platforms and sensors that enables ground combat forces to conduct their missions safely and more effectively. Boeingand partner Science Applications International function as the Lead Systems Integrator (LSI) for the program, managing a team of more than 500 partners and suppliers.
