A new light vehicle turret developed by Vickers Defence Systems has been unveiled at DSEi. The turret, designed to meet the mid-life improvement requirement for the British Army's Warrior vehicles, has been produced in a record ten weeks thanks to rapid prototyping techniques used at Vickers.
The two-man turret, which meets the Key User Requirements for Warrior, is also suitable for adaptation to meet other UK and overseas light vehicle requirements.
Vickers Defence Systems' Sales and Marketing Director, John Boughton, said: "The Vickers turret provides increased lethality through integration of the CTAI 40mm cannon. It also offers a stabilised weapon system platform and optional armour system solutions.
"Another key feature is that it is designed for ease of integration of the BOWMAN communications system and new generation sights including the Battlegroup Thermal Imaging System".
He added: "To produce this prototype in ten weeks is a superb achievement and a tribute to the skills and expertise of our turret team.
