Flash-based sonics for French navy NH9O helicopters

AGUSTA, responsible for the naval version of the NH9O helicopter within the Nm consortium, has awarded a contract to Thomson Marconi Sonar (IMS) for the design. development, supply and integration of 14 FLASH-based Sonics Systems for the French Navy's future fleet of NH 90 helicopters.

The first production NFH9O helicopter equipped MW the FLASH Sonics System wilt be delivered to the French Navy in 200S.

The lightweight Sonics System features a Common Acoustic Processor which will sirnultanenusly process sonobuoy data and the data received from the TMS BLAST-I Active Dipping Sonar.

The FLASH Dipping Sonar has already proved itself in service with the UK Royal Navy EH101 MERLIN helicopters, and is selected by the US Navy' for the SH6OR ASW helicopter. FLASH has also been supplied to the UAE Naval Force (Naval Cougar Helicopters), and is the system of choice for the KAMAN SH2-G.

FLASH is proposed by VMS for the NSHP project (Norway and Sweden); for the MHP' project in Canada; and for other customers.
