Pinzgauer manufacturer, Automotive Technik, has unveiled the 'Protector' armoured variant of its successful 6x6 high performance all-terrain vehicle today, as the world's procurement industry assembles at the Defence Systems and Equipment International (DSEI) Exhibition at ExCel in London's Docklands.
The company is to joint market the armoured variant of the Pinzgauer with Austrian specialist bodybuilder, Achleitner. The vehicle is configured as an armoured personnel carrier, able to carry twelve troops.
The Protector's armoured body features all round ballistic protection. The Monocoque armoured hull gives protection up to and including 7.62 NATO standard ball ammunition, grenades and 155mm overhead bursts. The light structure armour protection provides resistance in class M4/C4. Special features include high strength steel alloy armour, splinter proof laminated armour glass, Kevlar underfloor blast protection and run flat tyres with re-enforced aluminium wheel rims.
The Protector Pinzgauer 6x6 can be used for applications such as rescue vehicle, command vehicle, troop carrier and ambulance.
