    European debut for Vickers Wasp at DSEi

The Vickers Wasp rapid deployment vehicle is making its European debut at DSEi. The highly mobile, 4x4 air-transportable vehicle has been developed by Vickers 0MG and has not yet been seen outside of South Africa.

Sales and Marketing Director for Vickers Defence Systems (owners of Vickers 0MG), John Boughton, said: "DSEi provides a great opportunity for customers around the world to examine the Vickers Wasp for the first time. The Wasp is an extremely versatile vehicle that can be used by Special Forces for reconnaissance and attack roles, Its modular design means that it can be configured to suit customer requirements".

The Wasp on show at DSEi is configured as a troop carrier with a crew of eight. It is fitted with a pintle-mounted machine gun and incorporates floor protection against anti-personnel mines.

Variants of Wasp include: troop carrier with a crew of eight; reconnaissance vehicle with a crew of five; weapon platform for light to medium weapons. Key performance and design features of Wasp include vehicle mobility protected from a range of weapons, floor protection against anti-personnel mines; a 4 cylinder VM Moton engine and a payload of 1.5Tonne.
