ST Kinetics has designed and developed the Bionix Armoured Vehicle Launched Bridge (AVLB), the latest in its series of Bionix variants.

Bionix AVLB

The Bionix AVLB is the culmination of 3 years of development by ST Kinetics and is the fourth in the series of Bionix variants.

Mr Wu Tzu Chien, President of ST Kinetics, said, "The AVLB is yet another addition to our Bionix family of fighting vehicles. Early this year, we introduced the Recovery variant. Now, just 4 months later, the AVLB with a 22 m sliding state-of-the-art launched bridge capable of MLC 30 crossings. The AVLB weighs no more than 28 tonnes."

The Bionix basic chassis has been reconfigured to accommodate the MAN bridge system. The complete Bionix AVLB system (platform, launcher and bridge) weighs 28 metric tonnes compared with the standard Bionix 25 which weighs about 21 metric tonnes.

The push-pull bridge has a length of 22 metres and is constructed of aluminium alloy. It takes less than six minutes to launch the bridge and can be launched from within, the crew (commander and driver) remaining under complete armour protection, or via remote control using a remote operating panel Laying is carried out automatically with the two-man crew monitoring the sequence. No preparation of the crossing site is required.
