Aerospatiale Matra to develop test sets for the French Army's Leclerc MBT

21 June 2000

Aerospatiale Matra Test & Services has just received an order from the French Procurement Agency services to develop all the test programme sets which will be used for the field testing of the electronic and optronic equipment of the French Army's Leclerc MBT. The contract is worth 27.4 million euros.

The company will be responsible for the end quality of these programmes, co-developed with the OEM suppliers of the Leclerc MBT, not only to the French procurement Agency but also to the end user, the French Army.

These programmes will be run on the SESAR 3000 Diademe 2e' Generation test stations also developed by Aerospatiale Matra Test & Services under a DGA contract for the maintenance of the French Army's weapon systems including the Leclerc MBT.

The first programmes will be delivered during the first six months of the year 2002, at the same time as the first series produced test stations.

For this development, the company will capitalise on the experience it gained during its participation in the development of the test programmes for the maintenance of the UAE Leclerc MBT.

Test & Services has already developed test sets for the French Army's SAMANTHA (battlefield surveillance system) and MIRABEL (thermal imager) systems.
