BARCO to supply Vetronics equipment for MRAV project

22 June 2000

BARCO Display Systems has been selected by MAK, Kiel, Germany, to become the display supplier for the Multi Role Armoured Vehicle (MRAV) program, the largest collaborative armoured vehicle program in the history of NATO. BARCO has started the design of a completely dedicated version of its BARCO Vector Flat Panel Display System, to be integrated into the MRAV vehicle's chassis.

BARCO's Vector Flat Panel Display System

MAK System, which is part of the European leading armoured vehicles manufacturers consortium ARTEC, has opted for the state-of-the-art Vetronics observation and visualisation equipment that will be integrated into the MRAV vehicle's chassis.

The system that will be supplied consists of two 7" DM118 display modules, which can show video and thermal images on screen. All data retrieved from the ring-redundant CAN-Bus is displayed via the On-Screen Display and a powerful Symbol Generator (SC), which creates full graphics overlay and inserts information and essential data from the Vehicle Management System in the observation pictures.

For the design phase of the project, a first series of 24 BARCO Vector Display systems will be delivered in the first quarter of 2001.
