The Swiss company SE Corp and C.O.E.L. GmbH have teamed with the French company GAVAP in a bid to win the French Army's STC-CM (simulateur de tir de combat - canon mitrailleurs) competition that calls for a laser firing simulator intended to support training on the 12.7, 20 and 25 mm machine guns that will equip France's VBCI (vehicule blinde' de combat de l'infanterie) and VCI (vehicule de combat d'infanterie).
The team is proposing the COSIM MCAN (Machine Cannon), a two-way Laser Class 1 simulator with a range of up to 3000 metres that can be adapted to most medium calibre (12 to 30 mm) weapons.
The requirement is for delivery of 400 simulation kits, each of which consists of a passive element (in this case the COSIM Detector/Reflector Assembly) and an active element (COSIM Laser Transceiver Assembly). For initialisation, collection of data and statistics 100 ruggedised Laptops will also be delivered.
Although not specifically requested, the SE proposal also includes as an option the supply of a number of TDS Reflector Assemblies, which would enable the French Army to integrate infantry soldiers within the STC-CM training environment.
At present, the French Army is evaluating the proposals and should soon be picking a winner. Saab and General Dynamics are also entered in the competition.
