Bv206S for Italy

The Italian Ministry of Defence has selected the Bv206S, manufactured by Hagglunds Vehicle AB (part of the Alvis group), for their rapid response force. Initially it is envisaged that these high mobility, all-terrain vehicles will be used for troop transportation during international operations. As an introduction, two vehicles have been procured for test and evaluation, the first stage in a large programme comprising of 60 vehicles.


Bv206S

Bv206S is an armour-protected, all-terrain variant of the original Bv206, of which Hagglunds Vehicle have built almost 11,000 units exported to 40 countries world-wide. The Italian Army currently has 90 Bv206 units throughout its force.

Sven Kagevall, President of Hagglunds Vehicle AB, said, "We have high hopes for new orders of our armour-protected, all-terrain Bv206S, for which we have observed an ever-increasing interest from many European countries. Armour-protected, tracked, all-terrain vehicles, which are capable of moving troops and equipment quickly and safely to vulnerable and inaccessible areas, are a product for the future, with excellent market prospects."

Hagglunds has recently delivered Bv206S to France has received an order from the UK for BvSI0, a new, larger and faster all-terrain vehicle. Both orders are for the rapid response forces of these countries, indicating a requirement for increased protection for rapid response forces when deployed on international assignments.
