The BFGoodrich Company has become the third aerospace company to invest in MyAircraft.com, a joint venture focused on developing and operating a comprehensive open electronic marketplace for aerospace aftermarket products and services.
Honeywell, and United Technologies Corporation, the other two aerospace companies involved and software company i2 Technologies have signed a letter of intent (LOI) under which BFGoodrich would become the third aerospace company to invest in the new B2B website.
Under the terms of the LOI, BFGoodrich would have a seat on MyAircraft.com's board of directors. BFGoodrich's participation is subject to completion of a definitive agreement.
"BFGoodrich is very pleased to join Honeywell and United Technologies in what we believe will be the premier site of its kind serving the entire aerospace industry," said Marshall Larsen, President and COO of BFGoodrich Aerospace, which had sales of $3. 6 billion in 1999. "MyAircraft. com will be the centrepiece of our E-commerce strategy. "
BF Goodrich see the main benefit as making it easier and more efficient for customers to do business with the company and to release the benefits that the digital marketplace offers in supply chain management, procurement, and the exchange of technical information.
"BFGoodrich is a valuable addition to the strategic partners that make up MyAircraft.com," said Robert D. Johnson, CEO, Honeywell Aerospace. "Goodrich's decision to join us further strengthens our effort to create a leading digital aerospace marketplace, and we look forward to our continued growth to service the industry. "
MyAircraft.com will be structured and operated as an independent company chartered to develop an open e-marketplace, using i2's software solutions. The new company will encourage all airlines, OEMs and suppliers to participate within an open architecture framework.
