Flight Visions has been awarded a contract by Pilatus Aircraft Ltd. to supply 10 HUD systems using its Sparrow Hawk Head-Up-Display (HUD) and FV-2000E Symbol Generator for the PC-9 and PC-7 MKII Turbo Prop Trainers.
Equipped with the Flight Visions system, the aircraft will be used for advanced flight and navigation training. An aircraft video system consisting of a HUD camera, video monitor and video recorder will also be included in the HUD system and will be used in the rear cockpit.
"With our compact design, we were able to offer Pilatus a HUD that can easily fit into the aircraft. Our smaller and lighter weight displays combined with the performance and reliability make Flight Visions an attractive choice for trainers world-wide," said Dan Mamula, Flight Visions programme manager.
The Sparrow Hawk HUD has a total Field of View of 25 degrees and has frequency selected combiners that provide symbol brightness up to 3,000 Ft. Lamberts. Flight Visions are demonstrating the Sparrow Hawk Head-Up-Display, and the Night Hawk Head-Up-Display at Farnborough this week. The FV-3000 Mission Computer will drive both of those exhibits.
The Sparrow Hawk HUD is on the US Navy F-14B cockpit upgrade, and the Night Hawk, and FV-3000 on the Lockheed Martin Joint Strike Fighter Concept Demonstration Aircraft.
