The Royal Danish Air Force (RDAF) has awarded Thomson-CSF Comsys a contract to equip its F-16 combat aircraft with the TLS 2010 Multi Mode Receiver (MMR), an all-new airborne radio-navigation system. The contract covers the supply of TLS 2010s in VOR/ILS//Marker/MLS/D-GPS configuration, with delivery scheduled for early 2001 The TLS 2010 provides VOR en-route navigation aids and landing aids including ILS (Instrument Landing System) with associated MARKER functionality, MLS (Microwave Landing System), GPS (GPS Landing System) and D-GPS (differential GPS). The TLS 2010 is compatible with ARN-108, ARN-127, ARN-144 and ARN-147 VOR/ILS equipment. An integrated system, it reduces the cost of onboard avionics integration and product maintenance.
Hamble Structures, a Dowty Group unit, has been awarded a contract from Bombardier to manufacture centre line fuel tanks for Hawk Mk 115 aircraft to be flown by the NATO Flying Training College in Canada. The centre line tank, which has been designed by Bombardier Aerospace Defence Services. enables greater flight duration and mission flexibility. Hamble. which has expertise in both the design and manufacture of external fuel tanks. also supplies the canopy, windscreen and structural components for the Hawk. Under this new contract, Hamble will produce 18 tanks plus a pressure test urtit. A significant milestone has been achieved this month, July, with the tanks first flight.
Meggitt Aerospace Equipment has been awarded a contract from Korean Aerospace Industries (KAI) to furnish a fail safe main shut off valve for the T-50 1A-50 KT-X2 trainer aircraft programme. The system will be provided by Whiffaker Controls, a Meggitt company based in North Hollywood, California. In addition the company will provide a high temperature ejector shut off valve, hydraulic reservoir manual shut off valve, EPU bleed air and air turbine starter flow control valve for the programme.
