Aerosystems International wins Merlin support contract

23 July 2002

Aerosystems International has received an order from Lockheed Martin for the Merlin System Software Support contract worth around £6 million. This is a five-year contract to support the Mission Software that operates on the Royal Navy's Merlin MK1 Helicopter, in which Aerosystems also played a key development role.

The Merlin Mission System (MMS) is the helicopter's command and control system, providing the management, control and display of all the mission sensors and communication systems, including modern, tactical data links.

Steve Murdoch, Operational Systems Director, says "It is excellent news to have secured this contract, not only does it secure jobs, it enables us to apply our in-depth knowledge of these systems to ensure the customer receives a high standard of support."
