The Polish flag carrier LOT Polish Airlines and ATR have signed a contract for 5 ATR 42-500 (1 new and 4 second-hand aircraft). They will be operated by LOT's regional subsidiary EuroLOT. Deliveries are scheduled to take place this summer. EuroLOT, a 100% LOT subsidiary focused on regional routes, currently operates 8 ATR 72-200 and 5 ATR 42-300. The latter will be replaced by the 5 new generation ATR 42-500.
BAE SYSTEMS and Rockwell Collins have signed a collaboration agreement for the development of SiNAV, an integrated MEMS INS/GPS system for the military market. The fusion of leading MEMS inertial and SAASM GPS technologies offers customers a total navigation solution representing a breakthrough in terms of affordability, size and gun-hardness. The product is initially focused on meeting the demand from the guided munition and projectile market, with numerous other military applications for such a capability emerging. SiNAV integrates the MEMS inertial engine of the BAE SYSTEMS SiIMU01 with the Rockwell Collins NavStorm military P(Y)-code SAASM GPS receiver to produce a closely-coupled navigation system.
Pratt & Whitney Canada Corp. (P&WC) has signed a 10-year Maintenance Cost Guarantee Plan (MCG(TM)) agreement with British European. The MCG agreement includes British European's seven Dash-8 200/300 aircraft powered by PW123 engines.
EMS Technologies has been granted full type and unrestricted access approval from Inmarsat for the HSD-128 and HSD-64 High Speed Data Terminals. The approval was received during the Inmarsat Aeronautical Users Conference in Montreal. EMS is the first avionics manufacturer to obtain this unrestricted approval from Inmarsat. This supersedes the case approval of EMS' HSD-128 that was granted by Inmarsat in April 2002.
AMS signed a contract in April worth approximately US$23 million with DHMI (DEVLET HAVA MEYDANLARI ISLETMESI - Turkish Civil Aviation) for the modernisation of the air traffic control surveillance systems. The contract is to supply 6 secondary MODE S radar with selective interrogation, 3 medium range primary radar and associated logistical support. The radar will be installed at the following sites: Istanbul, Ankara, Milas-Bodrum, Yalova, Erzican, Korcik. The secondary MODE S - SIR S radar and primary ATCR 33 S radar represent the most advanced radar currently available on the market in their respective categories and are already in use in other countries.
