AMS joins Thales to support the future challenges of air transport

26 July 2002

AMS will join with Thales in an industry initiative to promote the development of new Air Transport system solutions. This initiative is aimed at giving an industrial response to European programmes such as "Single Sky", ACARE and the revised ATM2000+ strategy. The aim is to provide a solution to the expected triplication of air movement to take place in the next twenty years.

The two companies will propose joint initiatives to the European Commission and Eurocontrol with respect to the 6th Framework Programme for R&D or new trans-European Network projects looking at meeting the future demands of air traffic management.

Paolo Prudente, Head of ATMAS Division, declared: "Farnborough Air Show is a great time to announce this AMS agreement with Thales confirming our will to collaborate in the European context. We are not new to this, in that we have been working on ATM R&D projects for the European Commission and other European customers for some years now. It is very important that AMS and Thales work jointly to support the European aeronautical industry strategy for safer and smoother air transportation".
