Pratt & Whitney Canada delivers 1,000th PW300 series engine

26 July 2002

Pratt & Whitney Canada Corp. (P&WC) has delivered the 1,000th PW300 series engine, a PW306A model, to Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation. The engine will be installed on a Gulfstream G200 business jet.

The initial selection of the PW306A in 1994 marked a significant change for P&WC. It was the first time that the company was responsible for supplying a complete power plant system to a customer, with the NORDAM Group of Tulsa providing the nacelle, engine build unit and thrust reverser. The PW306A engine also includes risk-sharing partnerships with MTU of Germany, supplying the low-pressure turbine and Hamilton Sundstrand with the electronic control.

Since entry to service in 1992, the PW300 series of engines has accumulated close to 2,000,000 hours with more than 200 operators world-wide. The PW300 family offers a takeoff thrust range from 4,600 to 7,000 lbs. in eight engine variants.

"I would like to thank Gulfstream for its confidence in Pratt & Whitney Canada's products and services," said John Wright, Vice President, Business Aviation and Military Engines during an engine delivery ceremony held at the Longueuil plant.
