Agusta chooses TRW to supply winch on NH-90

TRW has been awarded a contract by Agusta, an AgustaWestland Company, to supply the cargo winch for its NH-90 helicopter. Awarded to TRW Aeronautical Systems (Lucas Aerospace), the multi-million dollar contract extends over the next 15 years and marks a significant win for the Company's hoist and winch product line. Agusta is part of NH Industries, which builds the Tactical Transport Helicopter. The winch will be standard equipment on all Tactical Transport Helicopter models.

"This is a significant win for TRW Aeronautical Systems as it not only marks the largest recent winch contract award, but also marks the first winch order for TRW at Agusta," said Dr. Graham Thornton, Vice President, Business Development.

The new winch is an upgraded model of TRW Aeronautical Systems' proven medium class winch system which has served the search and rescue market for more than 35 years. The new winch permanently stows below the aircraft floor and features variable speed, inching capability, unlimited duty cycle, drum-free mechanism and night-vision compatibility.
