Transatlantic co-operation in tactical propulsion signed

22 June 2001

ATK, the tactical propulsion arm of US based Alliant Missile Products Company (AMPC), and the Norwegian company Nammo Raufoss AS, have signed an agreement to establish a strategic transatlantic co-operative alliance in the area of tactical propulsion.

Both company groups recognise that the future in weapons scenario development will, to a much greater extent, be characterised by international co-operative efforts, in particular within NATO. The agreement establishes a framework by which the parties can pursue possible future weapon scenarios.

Daniel J. Murphy, President of AMPC, says, "AMPC and Nammo will be able to offer state of the art, affordable products to the missile industry. The Team will also be able to gain broad transatlantic political support, satisfying national interest for involved prime contractors through an international partner/supplier network."

His counter part, Nammo's CEO Edgar Fossheim, expressed his satisfaction that this new co-operative venture with AMPC would extend beyond their ongoing co-operation in the evolved Sea Sparrow missile program.
