Honeywell launching new automated aircraft wiring integrity programme

22 June 2001

Honeywell will lead a team of industry experts to develop and market the Nova Wire Integrity Program, an integrated, and portable system to test and identify faulty wiring and connections in older aircraft, saving operators up to 20 percent in maintenance costs.

The Nova Wire Integrity Programme is scheduled to be available in the fourth quarter of 2001.It will perform wiring system modelling, failure analysis, trend monitoring, prognostics, diagnostic analysis, and data logging of test results and automatic test generation.

The programme will enable operators to optimise their wiring test and maintenance strategy within their current maintenance processes.

"The reliability and safety of wiring in older aircraft is a major concern of operators throughout the industry. The Nova Wire Integrity Program, along with other powerful features, will diagnose and locate any faults within the wiring system," said Francois Gau, Director, Marketing, Honeywell Aerospace Services. "The system will, if required, test up to 5,000 wires in a minute and identify any fault (shorts, open, insulation wear) and their location in the aircraft to within one centimetre."

Airline operators, independent maintenance facilities or maintenance depots will have the option of selecting a long-term contract to lower up-front costs or purchasing the equipment directly with an annual support agreement.

Teaming with Honeywell will be GRCI, which will provide architecture modelling and data archiving; Qualtech Systems Inc., providing advanced diagnostics software and maintenance planning; Lectromec, prognostic accelerated aging/fault detection; and DIT-MCO International, circuit analyzers.
