Smiths has been selected for yet another A380 component bringing the total work package value to more than $100 million resulting from aircraft deliveries forecast through 2020. Smiths has already delivered the first A380 Mid Fixed Trailing Edge (MFTE) wing components to Airbus.
Smiths also has responsibility for the manufacture of the A380 Landing Gear Pintle, which attaches the main landing gear to the wing. The components are designed and manufactured at Smiths Southampton, UK facility.
"Smiths builds on it's solid reputation as a supplier to Airbus on the A340, manufacturing Trailing Edge components, and their unique capability to offer the best all-round solution for major structural components", said Dr. John Ferrie, Group Managing Director for Smiths Aerospace.
