CMC Electronics has completed deliveries of its Global Positioning System-based Flight Management System (GPS/FMS) known as the CMA-900, to Marshall Aerospace of Cambridge, England, for three C-130 aircraft to be upgraded by Marshall Aerospace for the Austrian Air Force.
The Austrian Air Force has accepted the first aircraft, within 5 months of contract award to CMC Electronics, thus confirming the ease of installation and flexibility of the CMA-900 Flight Management System for military air transport aircraft.
"As was the case with an earlier P-3 installation of the CMA-900 GPS/FMS, this programme illustrates military operators' interest in introducing a civil-certified FMS into their aircraft for compliance with the future Precision Area Navigation (P-RNAV) requirements of Communications, Navigation and Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) and Global Air Traffic Management (GATM)," said Jim Close, President & CEO, CMC Electronics.
"Marshall Aerospace was looking for a commercial-off-the-shelf GPS/FMS to fit their tight schedule and budget constraints. The CMA-900 was well suited to meet these requirements, having been designed for ease of configurability in the cost-conscious retrofit market," said Close.
The CMA-900 is in service with over 40 airlines as well as a P-3 operator.
