17 June 2003

Tadiran Electronic Systems, a member of the Elisra Group, has completed its delivery of four tactical intelligence work stations to the US Marines. The fruit of in-house development, these systems have "seen action" in several US Marines' exercises and have proven their effectiveness in combat conditions.

"This contract is a major marketing milestone for Tadiran Electronic Systems," says Hai Ben-Israel, President and CEO of the company, "and an expression of confidence in the system's tactical capabilities which were field tested by the US Marines. According to Ben-Israel, the US Marines are now considering the purchase of additional systems and this potential acquisition is worth several million dollars."

The Man-Pack Receiving System (MRS) is an all-digital, ruggedised, transportable intelligence computer for precise situation awareness on the battlefield. The system receives, processes and displays real-time video images and telemetry data arriving from UAVs and other airborne platforms. The system has an easy to operate MMI, making it not only user-friendly but also ready for immediate action.

The MRS is based on Pentium computing power, with the backpack unit comprising the computer, video receiver, antenna and lightweight, hand-held TFT display for presenting video telemetry and map data in virtually every type of format.Proprietary image and data manipulation tools assist the user in converting raw data into a graphical intelligence overlay on a digital map.

The electronic map, integral GPS receiver and compass enable system operation, mission management, orientation and a 3-D view of the battlefield terrain.Overlaid on the map is the UAV/camera footprint as well as target information and tactical symbols for creating the complete situation awareness picture.

The system is part of Tadiran Electronic Systems' family of products that provides the best solution for intelligence gathering, C4I for ground and naval forces, artillery targeting and ranging, border surveillance, security for high-risk sites and sensitive facilities.

According to Danny Biran, CEO and Chairman of the Elisra Group, "as an acknowledged leader in military command and control systems, Tadiran Electronic Systems has attracted the interest of several other armies throughout the world in purchasing these systems ."
