Egypt Air has chosen Rockwell Collins avionics for the airlines seven new Airbus A330 aircraft. Delivery is scheduled between June 2004 and February 2006.
The news comes in the wake of an April announcement that Rockwell Collins will provide avionics on Egypt Air's five new Airbus A320-200 aircraft.
"Egypt Air and Rockwell Collins have forged a mutually beneficial relationship, with great potential for the future," said Kelly Ortberg, vice president and general manager of Air Transport Systems for Rockwell Collins Commercial Systems.
The latest agreement calls for installation of Rockwell Collins' suite of data link communications, navigation and surveillance sensors, including the GLU-920 Multi-Mode Receiver (MMR). The Collins WXR-2100 Multiscan Weather Radar was also selected for these new aircraft.
The Rockwell Collins data link communications system supports current and future digital CNS/ATM environments, including ACARS, future air navigation systems (FANS), VHF data link (VDL) Mode 2 and Aeronautical Telecommunications Network (ATN).
The Collins WXR-2100 Multiscan Weather Radar enhances safety by reducing the need for manual intervention. The automatic performance of radar scan patterns using multiple tilt angles and advanced data processing reduces pilot workload.
