EADS has commissioned its NETCOS (Network Centric Operations Simulations) demonstrator. This system, to be unveiled for the first time at this year's Air Show, is the demonstrator of the fully fledged NCO scenario.
NETCOS enables the development and presentation of new defence concepts, by simulating, in a synthetic environment, the performance of all types of equipment in complex scenarios. "NETCOS is a particularly valuable tool for development of the Information Dominance concept," said Antoine Coursimault, in charge of C3I activities within EADS BU Systems & Defence. The Information Dominance concept is based on the fusion of data received from several types of source, in order to quickly obtain a clear picture of the tactical situation.
During the show, the NETCOS demonstrator will be presenting a scenario illustrating a quick command chain involved in the destruction of time critical targets such as surface-to-surface missile launchers.
In addition to joint force scenarios, the NETCOS demonstrator can handle naval or land scenarios. The ability of the system to model and interact with equipment which is either already existent or under development, in a synthetic environment, will enable EADS to better respond to its customers' needs in terms of performance and of equipment. The NETCOS includes a central screen, which shows the tactical situation, supplemented by three lateral satellite screens dedicated to Information Dominance, Air Defence or Avionics.
"NETCOS has involved the best EADS defence and simulation resources. It is a clear indication of the importance being afforded by the European group to the concept of Network Centric Operations," said Stefan Zoller, CEO of the Systems & Defence Electronics Division.
