Rolls-Royce has been contracted by Gulf Aircraft Maintenance Company (GAMCO) to support a TotalCare agreement for Gulf Air's fleet of six A330-200s powered by the Trent 700. The contract, which was announced at the Paris Air Show, is valued at $150 million.
Under the terms of the agreement, GAMCO will manage the contract on behalf of Gulf Air. The signing of this agreement further strengthens the relationship between Rolls-Royce and GAMCO, which has existed since GAMCO's founding in the early 1980s and extends across several Rolls-Royce engine types. Gulf Air has been a Rolls-Royce customer since its start-up in 1950.
"Today's addition of Gulf Air to the growing list of TotalCare customers underlines the appeal of our long-term service agreements. TotalCare currently covers 60% of the Trent fleet and enables operators to remove the risk involved in fleet management," said Charles Cuddington, Managing Director - Airlines, Rolls-Royce.
Rolls-Royce has also signed a series of long-term engine support agreements with Qantas. The agreements cover three aircraft types and involve TotalCare contracts of up to 10 years.
The agreements include 113 RB211-524 series engines powering Boeing 747-400s and Boeing 767-300 aircraft, along with 28 BR715 engines in service on Boeing 717 regional jets operated by Qantas subsidiary, QantasLink.
"Qantas joins a growing list of our airline customers in opting for the benefits of TotalCare arrangements. Around a third of our airlines fleet is now handled under such agreements - individually tailored packages which provide complete budget visibility through agreed flying-hour price rates," said John Cheffins, Chief Operating Officer, Rolls-Royce.
