EADS SPACE reorganises

20 June 2003

EADS SPACE, a subsidiary of EADS, are reorganising its activities into three principal subsidiaries: EADS ASTRIUM in the satellite field, EADS SPACE Transportation for launch vehicles and orbital infrastructures and EADS SPACE Services to cover satellite services.

By reorganising and restructuring its activities to reinforce its areas of competence and increase competitiveness, EADS SPACE is implementing the policy needed to leave European recovery from the crisis in the space industry (increased competition in the launch vehicle field and dramatic drop in the satellite demand). The decisions taken at the last ESA ministerial council meeting on 27 May support this process.

According to Fran‡ois Auque, CEO of EADS SPACE, "Our aim is to offer ambitious programmes and appropriate technical solutions to European agencies and governments. In the light of the major decisions that have been taken recently and despite the difficult economic conditions for space, we are confident that Europe has a future in space."

EADS SPACE has an overall workforce of more than 12000, with sites in France, Germany, the UK and Spain.
