Logicon forms UK international IT companyJune 14th, 1999
Logicon Inc is establishing Northrop Grumman IT International Ltd. (NGITI), a United Kingdom-based unit to pursue information technology (IT) business opportunities across Europe. "Northrop Grumman IT International means a substantial portion of the IT- related capabilities Northrop Grumman and Logicon provides to commercial and government customers in the United States will be available to customers across Europe," said Herb Anderson, chief executive officer of Logicon, speaking at the Paris Air Show. "Our company is on course for significant growth in the coming years, and the time is right for Logicon to expand its presence with international customers. The formation of NGITI advances this plan and shows our long-term commitment to European markets." Logicon, which recorded 1998 sales of $1.1 billion, is the information technology sector of Northrop Grumman and supports projects as varied as large-scale systems integration work for Federal agencies and state and local governments, and as customised as help desk support for commercial customers. NGITI will base its operations in Southampton, England, co-located with INRI UK, the European office of Inter-National Research Institute. INRI was acquired by Northrop Grumman in 1998 and is now a subsidiary of Logicon. "Across Europe, businesses and governments are seeking innovative ways to take advantage of emerging technologies and the convergence of existing technologies," said Brian Luff, managing director of INRI UK and director of NGITI. "The demonstrated capabilities of Logicon, along with the resources and name recognition of Northrop Grumman, provide us with a solid foundation to expand our international IT portfolio." In the near term, NGITI will pursue opportunities in the defence market, in accordance with US Government restrictions, leveraging the existing command, control, communications, computers and intelligence (C4I) products of INRI UK. In the long term, NGITI will expand its offerings to include authorised defence and commercial IT products from Logicon. "In the past, INRI UK has successfully built new markets for C4I products with individual European governments, hardware manufacturers and NATO," Luff said. "The creation of NGITI will dramatically expand the number and types of products we have to offer.."
