HdH wins Bombardier contract

    June 16th, 1999

Australian company Tenix's subsidiary Hawker de Havilland has won a contract to design and manufacture the tailcone and APU installation kit for a new transcontinental business jet to be built by Canada's Bombardier Aerospace.

The Bombardier Continental Business Jet will carry eight passengers 3,100 nautical miles at Mach 0.8.

Welcoming the decision, HdH CEO Tony Carolan said the company had won against competition from the UK, Europe and the US. "We particularly welcome the establishment of a business association with the world's third-largest civil aircraft manufacturer, and the largest in the growing under-100 passenger market," he said.

HdH will start design immediately, with a joint definition phase in Montreal. The first deliverable is scheduled approximately 12 months after start, a tight programme but similar to that achieved on design and manufacture of the centre and outer flaps of the Lockheed Martin C-130J.

HdH will use technology it has developed in Australia in research and development on advanced composite structures.
